Dustin Pedroia decides to play baseball. Oh. And everyone else decides to watch.

Dustin Pedroia was the only one playing tonight. I don’t know if you noticed.

I noticed.

Bobby V- did YOU notice?

No. Kevin Youkilis got some hits (THANK GOD).

And, honestly, with the exception of that one inning (and let’s be honest, he’s not used to staying in that long, BOBBY V), Bard didn’t pitch terribly…

We proved we  can kind of hit.

And we proved we don’t totally suck.

Oh. But we didn’t win.

No. We. Did. Not.

Thoughts? Sympathies?

Let’s just forget tonight happened…

Honestly, what do you think of Bard’s performance? What does it say about pitching, 2012? Fumbling for your life vest yet?

I thought Bard looked EXCELLENT, and his results didn’t do justice to how he pitched. 6Ks and only 1 walk. He induced 11 ground balls, only 2 flys and 1 line drive. Unfortunately he was the victim of bad luck / poor defence as he gave up 2 infield hits, and a total of 8 hits. He showed good control, keeping most pitches away from the heart of the plates, and he was still hitting 94 MPH after 90 pitches. A bit slower than the 96/97 he hit early on, but still harder than most pitchers can throw. Am very optimistic that he may end up being the 3rd best starter on this team, if nobody panics and puts him back in the pen.

I thought Bard’s pitching was a lot better than the boxscore shows, but yeah, a loss is a loss and it still sucks. Need to get Ellsbury going!!!

“Life vest” is appropriate with all the Titanic anniversary chatter…

I hated the idea of putting Bard in the starting rotation from the first place. I feel the same about many young pitchers, such as Neftali Feliz in Texas. If they’re going to be starters, than don’t start them off as relievers!

I thought Bard was okay. But not great. Better than Beckett, though, huh? Love the video. And no…I’m not fumbling for a life vest. I’m a Sox fan for life, win or lose. It really hurts sometimes. Like now.
