Things fall apart

Looks like Rich Harden is a NO GO.

Apparently, a guy who gets injured every five seconds isn’t ideal for a bullpen that… um… gets injured every five seconds.

After reviewing Harden’s medical records, the Red Sox were left unconvinced that the righty could get through the rest of the season healthy.

So where does that leave us?

Two other pitchers the Red Sox had targeted — Ubaldo Jimenez and Hiroki Kuroda — could not be obtained. Jimenez was dealt from the Rockies to the Indians, while Kuroda informed the Dodgers he would not waive his no-trade clause.

No, really. Where does that leave us?

That leaves us with another uninjured player, pitcher or position player. We’ve had enough pitchers who are injured this year to last us five (decades?). It’s less that 2 1/2 hours until first pitch. Buehle? Miller? For once, I have NO idea!

Did the Sox really not know Harden was injury-prone before discussing the deal? Do they not read newspaers? They needed to look at medical records to find that out?

The Sox knew but according to NESN they heard he needed a shot after his first start of the year and that scared them off. Apparently they were just willing to take a risk but after they heard about the shot they looked at medical records and said no.
